Best Part of Texas? Bluebonnets! {Friendswood, Tx Family Photographer}

You can’t live in Texas and not have bluebonnet pictures of your kiddos! Well, South Texas at least. This year the flowers weren’t near as pretty – just not enough moisture! Aiden’s first pictures were taken in Brenham and I didn’t feel like making that trip last year while I was *very* pregnant! I found a spot up around I-10 & 45. They weren’t super great there, but it was going to have to do for this mama! I went out there with a friend and it was a disaster! The hill was super-steep, Aiden fell & ended up with a pretty nasty goose-egg on his head! Soo not cool when you’re about to take bluebonnet pictures!! You’re probably wondering why I’m writing all of this, huh? Well, it’s to lead up to the location we went to today. According google maps, it is about 3.7 miles from my house!!! This patch is what I consider large (keep in mind that I live in Houston, NOT Hill Country!!) but it is in a person’s front yard!!! There are signs up asking that people not let their kids run & play but other than that, you are free to stop and take pictures. We were pointed to this location by a friend when complaining about trying to drive and get my annual pictures! The weather just hasn’t been very cooperative and I was afraid I’d miss my opportunity! In just a few weeks they’ll be gone! I drug my husband and kiddos out this evening & I couldn’t have asked for more beautiful weather! The patch was a bit crowded, so I had to be creative! We were just about done when this old gentleman walked up and asked if we wanted to see his book!!! It was a book full of kids in bluebonnets! Turns out that it was the property owner & he asks people to bring by a print or two and his daughter makes a scrapbook! It was so awesome! He told us the story of the patch! A few years ago, his sister who lived in Austin passed away. On the way home from taking care of things at her home, they noticed people pulled over all up and down the freeway taking pictures in bluebonnets. He hated how unsafe that was & decided to create a local patch! How cool is that! He was a nice old man and I fully intend to print a picture of the kiddos & drop it off! Anyway, I know that was a bit long winded, but I really wanted to share!!

Without futher ado… I present to you, the 2009 Bluebonnet Pictures!!!

    What wonderful pictures! I saw you there. I recognized you from your sewing blog. There was only one car there when we got there. It got busy quickly! Mr. Williams is a sweet man! I didn’t know the history of the patch.
