Sweet, Sweet Baby {League City Newborn Photographer}
Remember I said I was so far behind in posting? Well, I wasn’t kidding! This precious little boy is now SIX MONTHS OLD!! Â I still want to show him off on here! He was simply a doll (and still is!) I have been photographing his family since his sweet sister was the same age! Actually, I was in the room when he was welcomed into this world. It was such a honor to be part of his birth. I can’t wait to continue photographing him as he grows into a handsome young man! But first, some newborn yumminess!!
And this is my all-time favorite newborn image so far!! LOVE it!
Love me some chubbs! {Canadian, Tx Baby Photographer}
This sweet little man belongs to my life-long best friend and just melts my heart! And if his chubby rolls don’t make you smile too… well, there is something wrong! I was able to photograph his mom and dad while they were expecting, his birth, his newborn pictures and now he’s SIX MONTHS!! Wow – time is flying!! We’re keeping our fingers crossed that I can get his one year portraits while I’m home for Thanksgiving! I just can’t get over his eyes! And doesn’t he look just like his Daddy. Amanda & John – than you again for letting me shoot you sweet little boy – I just love him!!! And Jackson, you’re a doll, but really – slow down! No sense growing up so fast!!
Birthday Girl {League City, Tx Photographer}
Miss Priss wasn’t too crazy about having to take any pictures outside – she simply wanted to be left alone to explore. But as soon as we move indoors and put a cake down, her entire attidude did a giant flip! She LOVED the cake and scooped it into her little mouth like it was the last sweet she’d ever get! She was absolutely precious. I have been photographing her since she was a newborn – it is such an honor to grow with my clients! This little sweetie will have a new brother this summer and I’m looking forward to photographing them together!

I Heart Faces – Fix-it Friday #48
It’s been a while since I was able to participate in an IHF Challenge! This little girl was adorable and I just couldn’t resist putting down the books and playing in Light Room! You see, I’m a new lightroom convert. I’ve been using it about 3 weeks now and I’m slowing catching on. Sure, I have my moments where I kick and scream and threaten to beat my computer, but honestly??? It’s soo much easier! (Thanks for teaching me Andrea Joki!) The only thing I used photoshop for was to dodge the eyes and resize for web!
Here’s the image I started with….

And here’s what I got after about 6 minutes of editing….

And what I did…
In Lightroom…
1. Adjusted white balance using her sclera for a neutral starting point.
2. Adjusted exposure to +87, it just needed to be bright!
3. Cropped to 5×7
4. Exported to CS4
In Photoshop…
5. Used small brush at 10% to dodge eyes
6. Resized for web
7. USM

In. Love. {Epiphanie Ginger}
Last week the man with the Brown Shorts bought me a gift. A gift that so many women-photographers have longed for. A gift that is stylish AND functional – (how often are those two words used together when describing a CAMERA BAG?? Not very often!) A gift that made me squeal like a school girl after her crush gives her a glance! I was soo excited to tear into the box! How awesome that it came inside it’s own cute little blue bag?!?! I was walking about the door to pick the kiddos up from school and to run some errands. It was killing me to hurry home and love on my new bag! I was excited for the weather to get nice so I could bring it out for it’s on photo session!!! If you love it too and want to pick up your own, be sure and check out Epiphanie Bags.

And hurry over, they are having a fabulous contest on their blog!!! .
You are what you wear {Friendswood Portrait Photographer}
You are what you wear.
A little cliché? Perhaps. But when it comes to portrait photography, clothing plays a huge role in the success of the finished product.
Before we get going – let’s be clear what you’re clothing does NOT need to be:
Brand New
I’m down with your favorite ripped jeans, retro band T’s, and worn converse shoes – as long as you know how to rock them in your own fabulous style.
Fancy-Schmancy and Uber-Expensive
Unless it’s your thing (If it’s really your thing, then by all means baby, bring on the bling). If you’re not normally a dress-up kind of person, don’t feel like you have to be one for your session.
Matching
No need to focus on matching everything from the color of your fuchsia headbands to the stripes in your socks. In fact, I beg of you, please, please don’t. If you’re heart is set on everyone in white button downs and khaki pants, I’m probably not your girl.
Stressful
No need to worry about each and every item, or fret about the suitability of each accessory. This is supposed to be fun. If you’re unsure – call me, and together, we’ll make sure you look fabulous. I promise.
I want you to be happy, thrilled, over the moon about your images, and I know that this is much more likely if we take the time and work together to help you choose clothing that fits these few simple rules:
Feels Good.
During your shoot you could be sitting in a pile on the grass having a tickle battle, rolling down a hill with your fiancé, throwing your kiddos in the air or climbing a tree. Wear clothing that lets you do all that (and more) comfortably.
As for the kids? Well…uncomfortable kids have a tendency to look…uncomfortable, and are often cranky to boot. Happy kids make for happy pictures.
Bottom Line: Don’t choose outfits that make any of you feel constrained, stiff, itchy, scratchy, like you’re dressed up for Halloween, or that leave you with a nagging worry that a button might pop if you bend the wrong way. Trust me.
Looks Good.
This can be tricky, looking good is totally subjective – right? If you’re not a Carrie Bradshaw fashionista in real life, you might want to pull in some extra help from a straight-talking friend or your trusty photographer (that would be me) who knows about such things and has plans in place to help.
Sometimes last year’s of-the-moment dress has already become hopelessly untrendy. Sometimes the current fashions just don’t look or feel like you. Sometimes outfits that look good in the mirror might not be ideally suited for photography. If you’re really looking for extra help, I can put you in touch with some incredible folks who make people look good for a living.
Bottom Line: If you don’t feel fabulous-fierce-take-on-the-world gorgeous in your outfit, you’re not going to love, love, love the end result – and I’m all about you love, love, loving the end result.
Makes Sense.
Here’s where we pull it all together. It’s not just enough that everyone look good and feel good – you’ve gotta look and feel good together AND the outfits should fit with your location and the desired mood for your portraits.
Glup. That seems like a lot, doesn’t it? (quick – revisit #4 in the top list, and remember, don’t stress).
Before you even begin figuring out your wardrobe, we’ll have an in depth consultation to narrow down what you really want for your pictures, choose the perfect location and make sure you have an understanding about how that all comes together in the finished photograph. I’m with you every step of the way.
Bottom Line: It’s easier than it seems.Think twice about having Emma in a lace prom dress if you can’t get Tommy out of his spider man cape and favorite Star Wars pajama top. If we’re going to be running around in a park, you’ll likely not decide to wear your starched Sunday best. Hate the way stripes and plaids look together but Dad has his favorite stripped polo ready to go? Best steer mom away from her beloved family tartan. Easy-Peasy. [unless Mom is really attached to that tartan, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it).
~~~
If you’re still not certain, and you can’t decide between the yellow wrap dress with your red heels or your dark skinny jeans and purple belted shirt – I’ve got good news. You don’t have to decide. Bring lots of options. Heck – throw your whole wardrobe into the back of the car. When we get to the session we’ll wing it all with fabulous results. Trust me.
Now take a deep breath. Close your eyes. Imagine how blow-everyone-away-fabulous-ready-for-America’s-Next-Top-Model you’re all going to look in those pictures….
Can you see it yet? I totally can. OMG, you look INCREDIBLE!
I can’t wait for your session.
Sweet Baby Boy {Dickinson Newborn Photographer}
This cutie was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed during our first session and for most of the second. He’s learned early that there is lots going on in this world and he just couldn’t stand the thought of missing something! He was still soo sweet though. I love photographing newborns. Their smell, their touch, their sweet noises. It truly is the perfect job. I get to love on precious miracles, then I get to go home and get a full night’s sleep. Well, that’s what I would get to do if I didn’t also have to study! Which, is why this sneak peak is running a big late! I hope you guys enjoy and I’ll be in contact with you very soon to give you gallery details!! Thanks for allowing me to capture such a precious part of your life!!
The Birthday Girl {Friendswood Photographer}
It seems like just a few months ago Jenn and I were out shopping for maternity clothes together and now, both our babies are ONE! The Madeline’s are just 2 months and 1 letter apart – the birthday girl is spelled Madeleine. I was able to put down my books for a few hours on Sunday and go to her first birthday party! Her mom and dad made a fabulous ladybug cake and had some burgers and hotdogs, what else is better on a first birthday? Ms. Madeleine dove right into that cake and it didn’t take long before she had it in her hair, her eyes, ears and nose! There was no stopping that sugarholic! Isn’t she the cutest?! Those red curls are adorable! Anyway, just wanted to take another study break and show off the birthday girl and to let people know that, yes, I am still alive (well, I’m breathing, but I sure feel dead! Nursing school is EXHAUSTING!!) Michael and Jenn, thanks for having us over! It was great to see you guys again!
(Here’s the cutie patootie this time last year!!)
Independence Day
Better late than never, right? I hope so! I’m still trying to make my way through nursing school and most days I feel like I’m failing miserably! It’s become very difficult to juggle all of my many roles – there simply isn’t enough time in the day! We didn’t do much for the 4th this year, it was moving weekend, so we just tried to quickly unpack boxes so that I could feel some sembalence of “normal” when I went back to class on Monday. We worked all day, went out to eat, then took the kiddos to watch fireworks in Webster. Nothing major, but it was great to have Gigi with us! Maybe next year I can take Mike and the kids back home for a Canadian 4th (no, not Canada… Canadian, Texas!!) Aiden loved the fireworks. I wasn’t sure how he was going to react at first, since he doesn’t like noise, but he ended up being fascinated with them! MJ didn’t really care, she just wanted to sleep. Poor girl was exhausted! We weren’t in a great location for good firework pictures and I was too lazy to mess with my tripod… maybe next year I’ll get the awesome firework shot I’ve been dreaming of! Anyways, just wanted to share some pictures from our Holiday. I hope that everyone had a wonderful Independence Day!!
